Pieces of the puzzle

This is my first time blogging, please be gentle :)

Organising this trip has been like putting together a 10 000 piece jigsaw, but no doubt when the final piece is in place it’ll be worth it.  Originally the idea was for me, Bruce "Hoppo" Hopkins, Troy "Gonzo" Quinlan and last but certainly the Goofiest, Trent "Maxi" Maxwell to head to the UK to help spread the word about surf safety awareness.

After "short talks" (excuse the pun) with our most vertically challenged lifeguard, Corey "Froddo" Oliver - who had been organizing some voluntary work with the awesome Swedish Lifeguards on both Gotland island and on the west coast of Sweden at Tylosand- we couldn’t not get involved too – extending our trip from 3 to 6 weeks. Yew!

Once we'd found all the corner pieces, no sooner did the wonderful crew at Virgin Atlantic come along and put them in place by telling us they would be happy to help out, now all we needed was a marketing team over in the UK to help out with all hard stuff in the middle! …Let me introduce you to the fantastic Deb and Liz from Owl Marketing:  they have been instrumental in setting up places to go, people to see and without them the UK leg probably wouldn't be happening (Round of applause!).

There’s still 2 weeks to go before we set off on the European leg of this adventure and planning for the UK trip is still going. There are many areas we'd love to visit, including Ireland, Scotland and the North West and we will be doing our very best to get to all those places. This what we have for you so far but stay tuned as the team at Owl Marketing are working around the clock to finalise locations and dates !

  39. You deffo need to fit in the north west (of Wales that is) on my island of Anglesey (royal Anglesey) apart from wills and Kate living here there are beautiful sights and surf clubs lush beaches !! You guy could teach the locals a thing or two in surf safety as there are big rips on the beaches that locals don't even know about!! Please come to Wales x jess x

    ReplyDelete
  40. 7th July Driving back to Barcelona..after run San Fermines!!

  41. Hey there boys, u should all come to the north east to a town called Saltburn by the sea, which is better known as the surfing Mecca of the north east, we have surfing comps and all sorts here and believe our summer lifeguards could do with a hand!!!! Xxxxx

    ReplyDelete
  42. If you do make it to Ireland you should come to the west coast. The beaches are the best with the wild Atlantic crashing in. Big waves, surfers, rips, swimmers who totally ignore the lifeguards, you'd feel right at home. Banna Strand in Co.Kerry and Lahinch in Co.Clare are popular surfing beaches, but there are many others. And of course we do welcomes really well. Come see us for "the Craic and a pint".

I´m so happy to see that you will spend so many days in Sweden! I´m spending the hole summer in the archipelago here in Stockholm (definitely worth a visit!!).

I recommend you to go by "paddan" (http://www.stromma.se/en/GOTEBORG/Tours/Paddan/Boat-Tours/Paddan-Roundtour/) in Gothenburg, when you get there. I always do that when I go to Gothenburg. It is a small boat that goes on the canals in Gothenburg. A very nice way of seeing the city.

Hope you will enjoy your stay in Sweden!

    Greetings from Stockholm, Sweden

  49. Hey Guys!
I´m from the Gold Coast and live here in Barcelona and I just want to give you a handy hint. You guys are gonna love it...there are so many cool bars and things to do. The thing I wanted to tell you though, is to be careful with all your stuff. So many people don´t realize this city is full of thieves and almost everyone on holiday/not on holiday get´s robbed...weather it´s your wallet in your pocket, phone on the table, bag at your feet/hanging off the back of the chair..it will go. Really, they are like magicians! Don´t let me put you off though, the city is amazing and you´ll go nuts! Just keep your eyes peeled, that´s all. I´ve seen it happen to so many people and would hate for it to happen to you guys.
    Anywho...have a blast!
    Vicki

  52. When you visit us in Stockholm you can't miss going to "Skansen". There you can see wild Nordic animals like the brown bears, mooses, wolfs, lynx, seals and so on. You can also see more exotic animals. Skansen also have buildings that is built in typical swedish style. :)

If you come to Skansen the 12th of july you can see the preperations for the recording of the very popular television programme called "Allsång på Skansen". There you can listen to many well known swedish songs and music that is popular right now. For exampel on the 12th both Veronica Maggio and Eric Amarillo will be there:
