For everyone that didnt get to watch my video of the Swedish Helicopter training you should be able to watch it here in my Mobile Me Gallery
The sun has been shining for us the last couple of days and boy are we happy about it ! Yesterday we did the tourist thing and hired a car, it was ROADTRIP time. With map in hand we were heading north to a small island off the northern tip off Gotland island called Faro. Faro is home to some cool very old rocks. The countryside along the way was beautiful, banter in the car was funny and the food at the little cafe we ate at was outstanding. Great day all round !
Today has also been another super fun day starting with some Jet ski training with the Swedish search and rescue crew. These guys have there own purpose built Jet ski (Rescue Runner) designed by their team in Stockholm. The whole Jet ski is actually 2 pieces, the engine and the hull. The hull has 3 separate air chambers so in the case of a rescue on rocks and the hull is damaged it will still float. Also the hull can be replaced at a very low cost. We each got to have a ride and test the beast out. I thought it went well.
After a quick bite to eat for lunch we were back down on the beach. This time doing some fun training with the local nippers from Gotland. It was great to see how enthusiastic the kids are about surf lifesaving over here. We started with a light jog down the beach, played beach flags and the put them through their paces with tube and board rescue relays. Everyone seemed to have an awesome time and the day was a huge success !
I'm on the Murray Cod (Nod) as I write this. Predicting a very early night for this sun beaten, tired little man. Tomorrow we are putting our Swedish lifeguard friends through a tough M shape (swim, board, run) course tomorrow morning :)
Only 2 full days in this wonderful place then we are heading to Goteburg for 1 night then down to Tylosand for 6. Let the good times continue to roll on !
Peace out :)
